The fashion writer also thinks you should buy a Mancala, a tiny pinch pot, and a few more essentials.

5 Buys is a monthly column that highlights savvy individuals and the things they're buying now.
When considering it-girls of today's New York, Danya Issawi is pretty much the whole bag (and it's no coincidence that she had her hands on the It Girl piece, yes, that one). A fashion news writer at The Cut, Danya has her well-manicured (no really, her nails always look good) hand on the pulse. You can find her on a Citibike on her way to the function, working a 'fit, and sometimes even at the Met Gala. We asked her what she's buying right now. Really Good Socks and a tiny pinch pot are just a few things that are in her cart right now. Read on for more.
1. Mancala
"I’ve recently rediscovered Mancala, a board game with ancient roots I once played online as a kid (along with pinball and tetris…I was never naturally cool). My boyfriend kindly surprised me with a solid wood, IRL version after I wouldn’t stop pestering him to play with me via those iMessage games. I like this game for two reasons: 1. the marbles are smooth and fun to touch and 2. I almost always win."
2. Margiela Mary Jane Pumps
"About the Item: I am the strongest girl in the world. I am so incredibly brave. I am using every ounce of self-restraint coursing through my veins to keep from buying these shoes. I am a Mary Jane girl through and through, and these Margiela girlies are on sale at Mytheresa, and yet, are so fiscally irresponsible that all I can do is avert my eyes. Someday we will be together, but that day is not today."
3. Tiny Pinch Pot
"I love delicate little things and when two of my favorite ceramic artists (@chell_fish_nyc and @droseos) collaborated on a line together, I went feral. I bought a little pinch pot (I have no idea if that’s what it’s actually called, it’s more tiny plate-esque) with a gilded rim and petite cherub painted on it, inscribed with the word “angel,” which is precisely what I am. I feel the strongest jolt of serotonin or dopamine or whatever it is (I’m not a psychiatrist idk) in my brain when I place my little earrings and little rings in it when I’m about to get in bed. That’s peak femininity right there."
4. Ralph Lauren Socks
"I apologize to the bearer of pretentious news, but these Ralph Lauren crew socks are the most comfortable pair I’ve ever slipped my feet into. My arches were so incredibly supported and my heels so gingerly cushioned. Though, Ralph, if you’re reading this, can you make these baby girl patterns into adult girl ones? Thanks."
5. Charlotte Tilbury Setting Spray
Everyone is so finicky about whatever setting spray they use it, asking people “what’s your setting spray of choice?” should replace “what’s your star sign?” as an ice breaker. I firmly believe you’ll learn more about whoever you’re speaking to. My tried and true is the Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless setting spray. I’m not a massive makeup girly at the moment, so this serves me as best she can! I look dewy and blended and don’t feel cakey. Although, if I were to need a heavy hitter, this One Size by Patrick Starrr On ‘Til Dawn setting spray would be the one. My friend Sophie, who happens to be one of the funniest makeup artists in Manhattan, used it when she did my look for the Met Gala (humble brag) and my makeup did not BUDGE for 12 hours straight.
