FAQ
What is Byline?
We are an online editorial that covers culture, life, romance, style, internet behavior, and our very own New York City. We center our issues around a theme, which each story, article, and column reflects. We accept pieces from writers (and non-writers!) that we feel reflect current culture and creative thinking.
We felt there was a need for a place to have more fun with writing while making friends in the process. Our goal is to champion the writer and their unique voice, to provide them with an audience, and to introduce readers to new ideas.
We work with friends and brand partners to bring our issues to life.
How do I write for Byline?
Send your pitch to pitch@bylinebyline.com. If you are a fiction writer, send your story to stories@bylinebyline.com. Please include 2-3 sentences on the topic you’d like to cover and 2-3 working titles for your column or article. We ask our writers to keep word count around 1,000 words. Byline’s mission is to champion the individual voice. The same is true for our pitching process. Be yourself!
Does Byline pay writers?
Yes. Thanks to our brand partners, we reached our goal of being able to pay all Byline contributors as of our September 2023 issue.
We began as a bootstrapped, for-fun project. We were built and powered by our community, and we are grateful to those who chose to be part of Byline’s early days.
How do I read Byline?
